Nomi is Going to UC Berkeley!
Nomi Maqbool, an EMPOWER VI Student Advisory Board member and a senior at Vista Murrieta High School, has excelled academically and become a powerful self-advocate despite losing his vision due to a rare genetic condition, supported by adaptive technology, strong family involvement, and services from the Riverside County Office of Education. Now accepted to UC Berkeley as a biology major, Nomi aims to become a physician and disability advocate, using his experiences to challenge stereotypes and push for greater accessibility and inclusion.
