Introduction to Transition Definitions One of our main goals at EMPOWER is to support middle and high school students who are blind/low vision to feel prepared to transition to adulthood. Generally, transition means moving from one place or condition to another. But when we talk about transition at EMPOWER VI, we are talking about the movement from high school to life after high school. Another way to say this is that transition is the time in your life when you will prepare to move from high school to adulthood. In the state of TN, transition officially starts at age 14. In other states, this may be age 15 or 16. No matter what, the sooner you start planning for your future, the better! Planning for life after high school is a big deal, and you need to take the time to learn about and consider all your options.
Guiding Questions Have you thought about what you might like to do after high school? College? Employment? Have you thought about where you might like to live after high school?
